A Note from Membership

2021 turned out to be another great year as we welcomed fourteen new families to WRYC.

A huge membership driver was the adult sailing lesson program, spearheaded by Joe M. Saturday morning classes, held both on and off the water, focused on the basics for newbie sailors and segued into a great refresher course for those who were a bit rusty and wanted to get back into sailing. There were a lot of laughs and a few capsizes, but luckily no new members were lost! The end goal, safely sailing a small boat, was accomplished, thanks to a great group of volunteers. You know who you are!

The Racing Series also attracted new members. More captains will be needed next summer due to the flux of new crew coming out on Sundays to sail and learn racing basics. All in all, both programs, coupled with “word of mouth” referrals, were instrumental in getting a lot of new people out on the water!

Lastly, another big thank you goes to Joel M for designing and maintaining the WRYC web-site and making it an on-line presence. In this day of surfing the web and “googling”, many new members have discovered the Club via the internet. Joel also publishes and e-mails the TellTale to members each month. This is a huge job and his efforts are greatly appreciated!

Thank you all for your efforts in recruiting new members and here’s to meeting many new faces in 2022.

Cheers!
