An attitude of Gratitude
/Now that the Thanksgiving feast is behind us and we move into the Christmas Season, I would like to take one more opportunity to express my gratitude for being part of such a terrific Club, with outstanding members, and located in one of the more majestic corners of the world. As I consider how much the world has changed in just the last 2 years, I’m extremely grateful that there are some things and places, that never change. Thank you WRYC!
The only items to report on are, that all Laser and Opti’s have been put back on their storage racks and all dollies are tucked away in the sail loft. Wagtail and our new keel boat Tranquility Base (TB for short) are on the hard at Mobjack Bay and Severn Maraina’s and awaiting my list of work projects. A side note to TB; you may recall we had some howling winds come thru Ware Neck a couple weeks back, the result of which was to pull TB off her mooring. Fortunately, we had some club members who were quick to respond, and we managed to get her securely back on a mooring without incident. Thanks to Bill Brown, John Singleton and Clayton James for their efforts. After speaking with the mooring manufacturer, I’ve identified the issue with the installation and will have a fix in the spring.
Additional shout outs to David Waldman and Jim Woodward for their help in getting the small boats put away, and David Waldman and Steph Peart for helping move the keel boats to their winter homes……... Thanks a bunch!
Finally, I can’t go without mentioning all the “behind the scenes” work that Joe Morgan does for our sailing community. He has been instrumental in helping to organize and advise on many of the activities and sailing events we’ve had and has made my job pretty easy. Thanks Joe.
Our next activity will be a planning and organization meeting sometime in late February, to address all things sailing at WRYC. PLEASE be on the lookout for a blast email along with a link to a SURVEY we’d like anyone interested in sailing, racing, cruising, or Fleet maintenance to complete. We will use this as a guide to our meeting in February.
Thank you.
Fair winds,
Jim Garrett - Fleet
