The Latest Fleet Scuttlebutt ...................

Well, after missing last month’s Telltale news I’m back. We had a successful end of March workday and as a result we are well positioned for the start of our Jr. Sailing Program which begins in June. There are still some items to repair on the spars and a couple of rudder replacements for Laser’s, but all the Laser hulls are cleaned, parts replaced, and sails repaired by our friends at Hayes Sails. I may decide to have another pre-launch workday to get the club skiffs ready for launch as well……stay tuned!

Thanks to Garrett Toler and Veta Titus, our Keelboat “TB” has a fresh sanding and bottom paint job! With the help of Janet Smith and Dale Neal cleaning TB inside and out, she will be ready to put back in the water and moored for Flag Raising. Our Paceship “Wagtail” is another story, and we are in the process of assessing her future.

The other important reminder is our upcoming Governor’s Cup Regatta. As I’ve mentioned and will continue to, this is the 60th Anniversary of the event and this year we are heavily promoting it and expect a bigger than average attendance and will need a number of extra volunteers. At this point hospitality help is the most needed. PLEASE consider helping by sending an email to either me (jgarret1@gmx.com) or our club house manager Layne Brown (wareriveryc@gmail.com). If you have not volunteered for an event yet this year…...here is your opportunity to contribute! Until next time,

Fair winds and calm seas, Jim Garrett, Fleet
